  1. Every minute, a million plastic bottles are sold around the world.
  2. Each plastic bottle takes about 450 years to decompose. If it is not out in the open, the figure is close to 1,000 years.
  3. More than 40% of plastic is used once and thrown away
  4. So far, some 700 species of marine animals have been reported to have eaten or become trapped in plastic.
  5. If the data holds, the oceans would contain more plastic than fish in 2050 according to UN data.

  1.     Support brands that do not use plastic: brands aware of their impact on the planet. They can use compostable or eco packaging.
  2.     Refuse to get free plastic stuff. Do not fill yourself with things that in the long run you will not need or even use.
  3.     Buy food in glass containers. You can then reuse them to organize and store other food or objects.
  4.     Shop at local markets where fruits or vegetables are not packaged with plastic to reduce the amount of plastic in your produce.
  5.     Invest in reusable bags. You can use them to pack food, snacks, etc. Instead of using the market bags.
  6.     Use bamboo toothbrushes. They are compostable and durable.
  7.     Use bar soap. They are free of plastic packaging. Use it to wash your face and body.
  8.     Switch to solid shampoo. The amount of plastic that we use in our lives in shampoo packaging would surprise you.
